Earthquake in the USA

Here’s a quick update on recent earthquakes in the United States:

On Friday, New York City and its surrounding area experienced a notable earthquake along with several aftershocks, including a strong one later in the evening. One of these aftershocks, registering at a magnitude of 4.0, occurred approximately 37 miles west of New York City near Gladstone, N.J., around 6 p.m. It was felt as far as Long Island, where reports of house shaking surfaced.

Despite the aftershocks, New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated that there were no immediate reports of significant damage following the 4.0 magnitude tremor. This aftershock followed a larger quake earlier in the day, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale. This earthquake, one of the most substantial to hit the area in a century, startled residents when it occurred around 10:23 a.m. It was centered in Readington Township, New Jersey, approximately 40 miles west of New York City, and was recorded 4.7 kilometers below the surface, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

  • A magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook the northeastern coast, including big cities like Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, on April 5, 2024. It was felt across the region.

It’s important to remember that earthquakes are natural events. Keeping an eye on them and being prepared can help reduce their impact. Stay safe and informed! 🌍
